Soil Moisture and Black Truffle Production Variability in the Iberian Peninsula

چکیده
The relationship between modelled root zone soil moisture (SM) and black truffle production in the Iberian Peninsula was studied. Previous works have investigated influence that precipitation exerts on yield highlighting importance of water for growth truffle. However, SM had not been used until now due to lack suitable databases. series from LISFLOOD hydrological rainfall–runoff model this study. Annual 175 locations Spain correlated with period 1991–2012. For this, different approaches were applied considering daily, weekly monthly temporal scales. same analysis carried out using data compare behaviors both variables related variability. results obtained show critical periods terms content summer (June–September) during October–November months. Moreover, a clear delay observed. study highlight production, since variable truly expresses available fungus, which completes its entire life cycle living below ground.

Surface moisture and temperature trends anticipate drought conditions linked to wildfire activity in the Iberian Peninsula
In this study, drought conditions involving risk of fires are detected applying SMOSderived soil moisture data and land surface temperature models. Moisture-temperature (SM-LST) patterns studied between 2010 and 2014 were linked to main fire regimes in the Iberian Peninsula. Most wildfires burned in warm and dry soils, but the analysis of pre-fire conditions differed among seasons. Absolute val...
متن کاملBlack Truffle Production, Soils and Mediterranean Woods: Spanish
The production of mycorrhizal fungi provides higher economic returns than any other forest product in many Mediterranean woods. In these areas, truffles {Tuber spp.) and mushrooms of Boletus and Lactarius genus are the fungi that yield the highest economic benefits. However, there are still evident gaps in the understanding of the truffle's biological cycles, ecology and interactions with host ...
متن کاملSpatial and Temporal Variability of Soil Moisture
The characterization of temporal and spatial variability of soil moisture is highly relevant for understanding the many hydrological processes, to model the processes better and to apply them to conservation planning. Considerable variability in space and time coupled with inadequate and uneven distribution of irrigation water results in uneven yield in an area Spatial and temporal variability ...
متن کاملRotation of the iberian peninsula.
Jones and Ewing (1) have presented seismic profiler data from the Bay of Biscay which allows a 120 anticlockwise rotation of the Iberian peninsula between Eocene and Middle to Upper Miocene times. They refer several times to the fact that this va'ue is appreciably less than a rotation of 220, which they believe resulted from our paleomagnetic study of the Lisbon Volcanics (2). We must point out...
متن کاملScaled spatial variability of soil moisture fields
[1] This study identifies soil moisture spatial variability patterns using measurements across different extents (i.e., field, watershed, and basin) and depths (i.e., from surface to root zone profile) from 18 different soil moisture field experiments. The spatial variability patterns are well represented by negative exponential functions between the mean and the coefficient of variation of soi...
